System using exhaust heat from residential GHPs.

Author(s) : TANOKASHIRA K.

Summary

Gas engine-driven heat pumps (GHPs) were commercialised in Japan in 1987 in the commercial sector. For the residential market, GHPs should be highly advanced (down sizing, comfort, noise). GHPs for residential use have been finally developed and put into the market since the spring of 1998. For the next phase of residential GHPs development, work was performed on developing high efficiency systems utilizing heat from the gas engine exhaust. One example of this new system is a GHP equipped with a floor heating system, which can provide energy savings and added comfort to customers.
