Summary
Germination of spores and activities of polygalacturonase and cellulolytic enzymes synthesized by R. arrhizus causing Rhizopus rot of guava fruits were max. at 30 deg C. The rot did not develop at 10 deg C. Severity of the rot along with the activities of cell wall degrading enzymes was highest at 100% relative humidity and lowest at 30% relative humidity in semi-ripe fruits.
