Summary
Over 500 airlines worldwide have almost 11 000 planes taking to the air, of which 1500 are freight planes with a total capacity of 70 000 tonnes. Depending on the source used, 19-25 million tonnes of air freight are transported annually, 2.5-3 million tonnes of which are perishable goods.
