The AIRCOOLER device - A flexible and mobile cooling solution for lower level heat loads.

Number: pap. n. 341

Author(s) : VACEK V., DOUBEK M.

Summary

We will present here a simple cooling device that has already been developed in three variants and is designated to provide a wide range of cooling temperatures with moderate or low heat fluxes (up to hundreds of watts) to be removed. Our new AIRCOOLER uses the principle of Vortex tube cooling. Its special custom design has been adjusted for use in a wide range of temperatures down to -50°C, achieved with a nominal standard air pressure value within the supply lines in most labs and industry facilities at a level of 8 to 9 bar. The simple box-like design using Vortex tubes coupled with some extra heat exchangers has no moving parts and requires only a pressurized dry air supply to provide a cooling effect. It is ideally suited for applications in electronics laboratories and also in applications with a problematic ambient environment (such as strong magnetic field and a high radiation environment).
