CAVES ARE USED FOR THE STORAGE OF FRUIT IN NORTHWEST CHINA. THE PAPER DESCRIBES TEST RESULTS SHOWING THAT A GOOD TEMPERATURE FOR FRUIT CAN BE MAINTAINED BY USING REFRIGERATING MACHINES AND BY STORING COLD IN THE GROUND. IT IS A GOOD PROCEDURE FOR SAVING ENERGY AND EXTENDING THE STORAGE LIFE OF FRUIT.
