The car market is booming in air conditioning systems.

Le marché automobile en expansion dans le domaine de la climatisation.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The author comments on the recent high growth in the demand for car air conditioning systems in Europe, and especially in France, whereas the global car market was experiencing a strong recession. He analyses the changes from the beginning of this growth period (increase in average car power, compressor efficiency improvement, diversification of suppliers and parts manufacturers which favours competition, etc). The refrigerant problem seems to be solved by using R134a for new equipment and by the possible substitution of R12 by R134a for existing equipment albeit at the expense of reduced efficiency. J.R.
