Summary

The storage ability of Chinese cabbage was positively correlated to dry matter content at harvest. Increasing nitrogen fertilization from 10 to 25 kilogrammes of nitrogen per daa showed a negative effect on dry matter content and soft rot at harvest and on brown midribs after storage until February. This effect was, however, less pronounced than the effect of the time of year. The results of this investigation indicate that the weather conditions prior to harvest may have a great influence on storage ability of Chinese cabbage.
