Summary
THE AUTHORS DEVELOPED A PROGRAMME FORTHE DETERMINATION OF THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT ON THE AIR SIDE IN FINNED TUBE HEAT EXCHANGERS. THIS PROGRAMME USES A SERIES OF TEST RESULTS SHOWING THAT THE VALUE OF THE COEFFICIENT SLIGHTLY INCREASES WHEN THERE IS CONDENSATION ON THE FIN SURFACE ; THIS VALUE DOES NOT DEPEND ON LATENT HEAT FLOW, BUT ONLY ON AIR VELOCITY. THE AUTHORS TESTED AN EXCHANGER WITH FINS SUBJECTED TO A SURFACE TREATMENT PROVIDING FILM CONDENSATION. THEY OBTAINED A MARKED DECREASE IN THE AIR PRESSURE DROP.
