Summary

VERY EXTENSIVE ELECTRO-PHYSICAL STUDY SHOWING THAT A SUITABLE ELECTRICAL STIMULATION OF MUSCLE DEPENDS MUCH ON FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH CARCASS STRUCTURE (COMPOSITION OF DIFFERENT TISSUES AND GEOMETRICAL ARRANGEMENT OF THEM), NECESSARILY LEADING TO HETEROGENEITIES IN ELECTRIC FIELD DISTRIBUTION. THIS ALSO DEPENDS ON TECHNOLOGICAL FACTORS THAT MAY, CONTRARY TO THE PRECEDING, BE CONTROLLED TO A LARGE EXTENT: MAINLY ELECTRIC PULSE CHARACTERISTICS, ELECTRODE NATURE AND LOCATION. THE PROBLEMS CAN BE SOLVED ONLY BY THE USE OF MULTI-ELECTRODE SYSTEMS WHICH AT PRESENT SEEM TO BE DIFFICULT TO USE. G.G.
