Summary

THE HEATING TOWER IS A DEVICE FOR HEAT ABSORPTION FROM AMBIENT AIR IN COMBINATION WITH HEAT PUMPS. IT WORKS LIKE A COOLING TOWER, BUT WITH REVERSED FUNCTION, AND WITH BRINES INSTEAD OF WATER. DIFFERENT BRINES HAVE BEEN STUDIED. THE CONCLUSION IS THAT SALT-BASED BRINES SHOULD BE USED. THE MOISTURE CONDENSING FROM THE AIR DILUTES THE BRINE, WHICH HAS TO BE MADE UP TO AVOID ICING IN THE HEAT PUMP EVAPORATOR. TWO WAYS TO REMOVE THE WATER HAVE BEEN STUDIED: REVERSE OSMOSIS AND EVAPORATION. THE RESULT SHOWS THAT EVAPORATION SEEMS TO BE THE CORRECT WAY.
