Summary
The history of the development of refrigeration techniques in Russia from 1906 to 1930, and refrigeration training are briefly introduced. Special attention is given to the Ukraine from 1930 to 1950. The Institute of Technology in the Food and Refrigeration Industries was founded in Odessa in 1950. The work performed in scientific research and education until 1989, when, under the new conditions, the Institute became the "Institute for Low-Temperature and Energy Technology of Odessa". The achievements of the Institute during the last 5 years are briefly described. C.C.
