The modified atmosphere storage of bananas as affected by different temperatures.

Summary

The use of modified atmosphere storage created by polyethylene bags was evaluated for green Cavendish bananas at temperatures between 8 and 14 deg C. The gaseous composition within the bags was determined, fruit ripening characteristics were appraised and the level of chilling injury assessed during storage at 10-day intervals for 30 days. Results are given.
