The new production of household refrigerators in Cuba: an energy efficient and ecologically friendly option.
Author(s) : VALLEDOR TRISTÁ R.
Summary
The paper deals with the use of HC technology in Cuba since 1999 for the production of two models of household refrigerators. The production facilities meet all the needs of manufacturing high quality products. The plant is able to produce 30 000 refrigerators per year. The refrigerators use isobutane for the refrigerant and high efficiency compressors, and use at the same time cyclopentane for insulation foam blowing. The new designs achieve, when tested to the European Norm EN 153 standard, a B Energy Efficiency Index.
