The "CFC issue": what impact upon a chiller selection?
Author(s) : CARRUTHERS P. J.
Summary
The intent of the paper is to explore the differences between similar chillers running on different refrigerants, but with common selection criteria. The selection criteria was based upon a fictitious building with a calculated peak cooling demand of 2,400 kilowatt for refrigeration. The plant configuration specified is two equal sized chillers to carry out the total peak load. Comparisons are made for kilowatt input, COP capital cost, maintenance cost. Influence of part-load running is taken into consideration.
