Experimental evaluation of R22 subsitute fluids in two liquid chiller units.

Evaluation expérimentale de fluides de remplacement du R22 dans deux groupes refroidisseurs de liquide.

Summary

Experiments were done on liquid chiller units (15 and 30 kilowatts) using zeotropic and near-azeotropic blends meant to replace R22. With the blend R407C, only minor modifications of the lubricating oil and the dehydrating filter were necessary. With R410B, a compressor with a lower volumetric capacity was used in order to obtain a refrigerating capacity close to that supplied by R22. The fluid contained in the bulb of the thermostatic expansion valve was changed. The results showed that the performances with R407B result in 2 to 20% less refrigerating capacity, but at slightly higher COPs (+11 to -3%). There was a big drop in the performances of R410B at high condensation temperature, thus limiting its range of application.
