The role of computers in designing and improving LNG plants.

Author(s) : OWREN G.

Summary

A computer program CryoPro, based on a new algorithm, is developed. Exergy analysis with CryoPro shows that base load plants today have a thermodynamic efficiency close to 50%. State of the art of computer technology today is the RISC based processor together with the UNIX operating system. Future development will include online optimization software on LNG plants. Dynamic simulations will be used in operator training, control system and in advanced integrated design optimizations. The LNG base load plant design algorithms can easily be adapted to refrigeration needs in NGL extraction plants, petrochemical plants, etc.
