The study on the evaporator of an air-cooled heat pump under frosting.

Author(s) : ZHANG Z., TIAN J. J.

Summary

The local frost formation process on the finned-tube evaporator has been studied in this paper. A mathematical model of air-cooled heat hump finned-tube evaporator has been set up, which can represent the local performance of evaporator. The model considers the difference of heat and mass transfer under dry, wet and frosting conditions and the frost formation varying along tube. The conventional finned-tube evaporator used in industry was studied theoretically. It is found that the frosting layer is not very uniform on the evaporator and it reduces the heat transfer of evaporator. The computing results are in good agreement with those from experiment, which indicates the liability of the model used in this paper.
