Summary

THE AUTHORS CONDUCTED THEIR STUDIES USING VARIOUS COOLING RATES (0.3 AND 75 K/MIN) AND GOT A GOOD CORRELATION BETWEEN BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVEL AND POST-OPERATIVE TIME (CORRELATION COEFFICIENT HIGHER THAN 0.9) WITH VARIOUS CONDITIONS (NUMBER OF IMPLANTED ISLETS, COOLING RATE). IT WAS FOUND THAT CRYOPRESERVED RAT PANCREATIC ISLETS USING SLOW COOLING(0.3 K/MIN) HAVE ALMOST THE SAME VIABILITY AS FRESHLY ISOLATED ISLETS.
