THE USE OF TRANSIENT METHODS IN THE DETERMINATION OF THERMAL PROPERTIES OF SOLIDS.

Author(s) : RORIZ L. F.

Summary

THE PROBLEMS APPEARING DURING A MEASUREMENT IN TRANSIENT STATE DEPEND ON THE UNIFORMITY, THE ISOTROPY AND THE POROSITY OF THE MATERIAL. THE EFFECT OF EACH OF THESE PROPERTIES IS ANALYSED AND THE USE OF DIFFERENT TRANSIENT PROCEDURES, IN TERMS OF THESE PROPERTIES, IS DISCUSSED. THE TEST PROPERTIES ARE ACTUAL PROPERTIES ONLY IF THE MATERIALS ARE UNIFORM, ISOTROPIC AND NON POROUS. FOR THE OTHERMATERIALS ONLY APPARENT PROPERTIES ARE OBTAINED. THEIR VALUE DEPENDS ON TEST CONDITIONS AND ON THE MATHEMATICAL SOLUTION USED. THE IMPORTANCE OF TEST CONDITIONS AND OF THE DEFINITION OF APPARENT PROPERTIES IS CONSIDERED, BASED ON TEST RESULTS.
