AN EXPERIMENTAL APPARATUS FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THERMAL PROPERTIES OF POROUS SOLIDS.

Author(s) : RORIZ L. F.

Summary

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN APPARENT THERMAL PROPERTIES AND ACTUAL PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS DEPENDS ON WATER MIGRATION IN THE MATERIAL AND ON THE CONDENSATION-EVAPORATION RATE DEPENDING ON THE POROUS PROPERTIES OF THE MATERIAL AND RH. FOR STUDYING THESE EFFECTS, AIR SHOULD BE USED AS A FLUID SURROUNDING THE SAMPLE AND ITS TEMPERATURE AND RH SHOULD BE CONTROLLED. THE SYSTEM PRESENTED MAKES THIS CONTROL POSSIBLE. THE IMPORTANCE OF RH CONDITIONS DURING THE TESTS IS SHOWN BY THE RESULTS PRESENTED WITH THE SAME SAMPLE, CONSIDERING DIFFERENT RH VARIATIONS.
