Theoretical and experimental study of the application of propane/n-butane mixture as refrigerant replacing R12.

Summary

A study on the application of propane/n-butane mixture as refrigerant of a vapour compression refrigeration cycle has been carried out. Equations of state were used to predict the thermodynamic performance of the standard refrigeration cycle. A special experimental set-up has been used to test the system performance. For the propane molar fractions around 0.4 to 0.5, the system performs satisfactory as for the case of R12.
