Summary

THE CFCISSUE IS STUDIED, TOGETHER WITH THE NECESSITY OF REPLACING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, IN POLYURETHANE RIGID FOAMS, THE CFCS WHICH HAVE A NOXIOUS EFFECT ON THE OZONE LAYER. THE INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT COMPONENTS ON THE FOAM CHARACTERISTICS IS ANALYZED, AS WELL AS THEIR STRUCTURE. THE ROLE OF THE TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT USED FOR THE FOAM PRODUCTION IS ALSO STUDIED. THE RESULTS OBTAINED BY USING FOAMING AGENTS OTHER THAN R11, R123, R141B AND METHYL CHLORIDE ARE COMPARED. THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DIFFERENT FACTORS IS EXAMINED. IT IS SHOWN THAT, TODAY, WITH THE UTILIZATION OF SUBSTITUTE FOAMING AGENTS, THE THERMAL INSULATION IS OF A LOWER QUALITY, EVEN IF IT REDUCES THE NOXIOUS EFFECT ON THE OZONE LAYER. C.C.
