Summary

HFE-245mc (pentafluoroethyl methyl ether) was examined at 125, 150 and 175 deg C for 10, 30 and 60 days in sealed glass tubes. The result was that although a small amount of MTFA (methyl trifluoroacetate), one of the degradation products, was observed at almost all conditions, HFE-245mc is stable enough for a refrigerant. Now, the authors are testing it with a heat pump prototype .
