Thermodynamic analysis of a wet compression hybrid cycle for the working pair ammonia/water.

Summary

The authors present a model for the thermodynamic optimization of wet-compression hybrid heat pumps and the mixture ammonia/water. At given external conditions, there is a total concentration and an optimum low pressure producing a high COP with minimum isentropic losses. A comparison with a pure-refrigerant system showed that, altough the hybrid cycle is not always advantageous for the COP, it does help lower the cycle's high pressure.
