Thermodynamic aspects regarding the use of methanol/ethanol-water couples in simulating the boiling of binary solutions.

Summary

The laboratory-conditions simulation techniques of binary solutions boiling from absorption refrigerating equipment are generally based on the use of methanol or ethanol-water couples. The thermodynamic behaviour and the thermophysical properties of these couples are different from those of ammonia-water, water-lithium bromide, etc. In the paper, the necessity of the assurance of physical and thermodynamic similitude conditions between couples, and their influence on Nukiyama (boiling) curve and on convection coefficients for binary solutions boiling, especially on tube banks, is enlightened.
