Thermodynamic properties measurement of binary HFC32 + CF3I refrigerant mixtures

Number: 1966

Summary

Trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I) is a low-GWP with A1 classification for flammability. Adding CF3I to refrigerant mixtures of hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) can suppress the flammability of the mixtures which are considered as new alternative refrigerants. In this study, PvTx properties of the binary mixture of HFC32 (difluoromethane) and CF3I were measured for two compositions (HFC32/CF3I with 50/50 mass% and 21/79 mass%) using the isochoric method. Measurements were conducted for temperatures ranging from 310 to 400 K and pressures up to 6.6 MPa along 12 isochores between 68 and 1448 kg m-3. Saturated densities and critical parameters of the selected compositions were determined by the visual observation of the meniscus disappearance and the intensity of the critical opalescence. In addition, the measured vapor-liquid equilibrium data for HFC32 + CF3I mixtures were compared with an equation of state from 263 to 323 K.
