Thermodynamic study of absorption cycles using low temperature heat sources.

Author(s) : VENEGAS M., VEGA M. de, IZQUIERDO M., et al.

Summary

The authors investigated the use of low-temperature heat (between 50 and 90 °C) to drive absorption systems under the meteorological conditions encountered in Madrid, where the ambient temperature ranges from -5 to 42 °C. Two-stage and three-stage absorption systems, in two different applications (refrigeration and heat pump cycles) were modelled and simulated, allowing comparison between the absorbent-refrigerant solutions H2O-NH3, LiNO3-NH3 and NaSCN-NH3. The results are presented for two and three-stage absorption systems with evaporation temperatures ranging from -40 to 0 °C and condensation temperatures ranging from 15 to 45 °C.
