Summary

R32 mixtures are considered as the best candidates to replace R22. The authors measured data for four kinds of R32 mixtures at 0 deg C, and developed a 15-coefficient modified BWR equation of state. The ideal cycle performance of these four mixtures are discussed for different compositions. R32-R134a and R32-R152a are non-azeotropic and proper compositions of mixtures show thermodynamic behaviours similar to R22. As the composition of R134a or R152a increases, the refrigerating capacities and the discharge temperatures decrease and the COPs increase. R32-R125 and R32-R143a are azeotropic. The pressure changes are small and the pressures are very close to that of R32, where the compositions of R125 or R143a less than 50wt%, but the discharge temperatures were lowered by R125 or R143a. For R32-R125 system, R125 reduces the risk of flammability.
