Thermoeconomic analysis of different refrigeration systems for high temperature lift using alternative refrigerants.

Summary
An attempt has been made to analyze different types of refrigeration system for high temperature lift applications using various alternative refrigerants. In the present work, a mathematical model has been developed for the simulation work on cascade refrigeration system using four different refrigerant pairs. A twostage refrigeration system with flash tank has been analyzed using the alternatives of R12 and compared the energetic and exergetic performances. Also, a refrigeration system with dedicated subcooler has been numerically analyzed from the energetic, exergetic and economic point of view. It is found that refrigerants R170 in the low temperature circuit and R161 in high temperature circuit are capable of replacing R41 and R404A respectively in cascade refrigeration as alternative. It is also noted that refrigerants R1234yf and R1234ze can be a promising alternatives for R12 and R134a in the two-stage refrigeration system with flash tank. The simulation work on the refrigeration system using dedicated subcooler shows that the use of the proposed system is more beneficial when the temperature lift is high.
