Transcritical CO2 refrigerating plant with mechanical subcooling.
Transkritische CO2-Kälteanlagen mit künstlicher Unterkuhlung.

Type of article: Article
Summary
CO2 as a refrigerant is disadvantaged next to high pressures also by low efficiency in transcritical operation. Mechanical subcooling of the refrigerant leaving the gas cooler through an additional refrigerating system significantly increases the efficiency (by up to 70% at the CO2 gas cooler outlet temperature of 50°C), which can enable its use in hot regions or make it more efficient.
