THE MONTHLY AVERAGE UNIT POWER PER TON OF STORED PRODUCT IS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR FOR ECONOMIC OPERATION OF COLD STORES. IN JAPAN THE POWER TARIFF IS A DUAL SYSTEM: THE < BASIC CHARGE > WHICH DEPENDS UPON THE CONTRACT CHARGE PLUS THE CHARGE FOR EACH KILOWATTHOUR CONSUMED ; AND THE < NIGHT POWER TARIFF > CHARGE WHICH IS CHEAPER THAN THE DAY TARIFF, BUT NIGHT USERS CANNOT SWITCH IN TO THE DAY TIME SUPPLY.
