Summary

IN ORDER TO STUDY THE DESTRUCTIVE EFFECTS OF ULTRA LOW TEMPERATURE FREEZING ON TUMOUR CELLS, OR SEPARATION, DEGENERATION AND NECROSIS OF THE TUMOUR CELLS, AN EXPERIMENT WAS MADE ON A LABORATORY ANIMAL. A RABBIT'S FEMUR WAS SEVERED AND LAID IN LIQUID NITROGEN. AFTER REPEATED FREEZING AND MELTING, THE FEMUR WAS REPLANTED. EIGHT WEEKS LATER, THE ENDS OF THE SEVERED FEMUR WERE REJOINED AND IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE REPRODUCTION OF THE BONY TISSUE WAS NORMAL. DURING 1975 TO 1981, THE A. PERFORMED TUMORECTOMY RADICAL OPERATIONS OF MANDIBLE ASSOCIATED WITH CERVICAL IN SITU MANDIBLE, AUTOREPLANTATION AND ORIGINAL MANDIBLE REPLANTATION FREEZING IN LIQUID NITROGEN ON 42 PATIENTS WITH VARIOUS TUMOURS. 41 POSTOPERATION PATIENTS SHOWED NO SIGNS OF RECURRENCE.
