Tribological evaluation of various aluminium alloys in lubricant-refrigerant mixtures.

Summary

All of these evaluations are based upon a specimen testing program using a High Pressure Tribometer (HPT). This research program consists of two parts. The focus of the first part is mainly on materials screening of various aluminium alloys-steel contact pairs lubricated by polyolester-R134a and polyalkylene glycol-R134a mixtures. In the second part, two aluminium-silicon alloys (356-T61 and 390-T61), widely used in critical components of refrigerant compressors, are examined for their friction and wear behavior in different lubricant/refrigerant mixtures.
