Summary

The quality of the sealing and of the lubrication of the screws of a rotary compressor depends on the behaviour of the lubricant in which a substantial quantity of refrigerant is dissolved. The pair used is R404A-polyolester oil. This oil is the most suitable for refrigeration using HFCs. The experimental study is on the solubility of R404A in the lubricant, as a function of the compressor operating conditions of temperature and pressure. The effects of this dilution and of the temperature on the viscosity are presented in the form of graphs.
