Use of ice slurry in a supermarket display cabinet.

Summary

The study investigates a propylene glycol based ice slurry compared with single-phase chilled propylene glycol in a medium temperature (M2) display case. The temperature of the ice slurry was higher than the mixture of single-phase propylene glycol containing the same amount of thermal cooling energy. Also investigated was the use of a speed control pump for the cabinet running with glycol. The pump was regulated by the temperature inside the cabinet. This could result in up to 40% reduction in pump energy.
