Summary

The book includes the proceedings of a conference organized conjointly by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Division of Nuclear Techniques of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in August 1990. Thirteen papers are included. The objective was to determine the radiation doses required to provide quarantine security from insects and pests infesting commodities, assessing their tolerance to the radiation doses. It was demonstrated that irradiation is a viable alternative to ethylene dibromide fumigation.
