Summary

The vacuum freezing method can be effectively used to cool and freeze food products and the phase change materials that can be used for cold thermal energy storage. Hence, the vacuum freezing process alone can be used to decrease the food temperature as well as freeze the PCMs in novel food container integrated with CTES. The scope of this work is an experimental and numerical analysis of the vacuum freezing and cooling method of the food samples, as well as the study of the storage time in the specifically designed CTES-aided storage container utilising the PCM. The 3-D numerical results are in good agreement with experimental data. In addition, the CFD model sensitivity analysis clearly shows the impact of the thermal properties of the food samples on the model fidelity.
