Summary

IN A STUDY OF THE SOLVENT EFFECT OF A LIQUEFIED GAS ON A BINARY SOLID-LIQUID EQUILIBRIUM WITH A EUTECTIC POINT, VAPOUR-LIQUID-SOLID EQUILIBRIUM WAS DETERMINED FOR THE TERNARY SYSTEMS PROPANE (SOLVENT)-BENZENE-CYCLOHEXANE AND R22 (SOLVENT)-BENZENE-CYCLOHEXANE BY COOLING THE MIXTURE IN A CELL AND BY MEASURING THE TIME COURSE OF THE TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE. PROPANE SHIFTED THE EUTECTIC POINT OF THE BINARY SYSTEM TO THE CYCLOHEXANE-RICH END, WHILE R22 SHIFTED IT TO THE BENZENE-RICH END. THE DATA WERE CORRELATED SATISFACTORILY IN TERMS OF ACTIVITY COEFFICIENTS. A NEW CONTINUOUS PROCESS OF CRYSTALLIZATION UTILIZING THIS EFFECT WAS PROPOSED, AND ITS FEASIBILITY WAS DEMONSTRATED.
