Summary

A WORK DEPOT IS HEATED BY A HEAT PUMP, ABSTRACTING HEAT FROM THE BALTIC BY MEANS OF AN 850 M LONG POLYETHYLENE HOSE HEAT EXCHANGER. AN ADMINISTRATION BUILDING IS HEATED BY 2 HEAT PUMPS, ABSTRACTING HEAT THROUGH 1,300 M OF POLYETHYLENE HOSE. BOTH INSTALLATIONS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ABSTRACT ENERGY FROM THE WATER THROUGHOUT THE WINTER SEASON, AND THE TEMPERATURE OF THE OUTGOING REFRIGERANT DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE FALLEN BELOW -3.5 DEG C. THE SPECIFIC POWER RATINGS OF THE HEAT EXCHANGER HOSES HAVE BEEN BETWEEN 4 AND 17 W/M. THE COP WAS 3 FOR ONE INSTALLATION AND 2 FOR THE OTHER. BOTH HAVE EXHIBITED GOOD OPERATIONAL ECONOMICS. THE RESULTS INDICATE THAT IT SHOULD BE POSSIBLE TO DESIGN HEAT PUMP PLANT FOR OPERATION ALL ALONG THE SWEDISH COAST.
