Author(s) : LOHL E J.

Type of article: Article

Summary

IN RECENT STUDIES THE AUTHORS HAVE SUCCESSFULLY PRODUCED HIGH CRITICAL TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTING WIRES WITH SEVERAL OUTER DIAMETERS AND LENGTHS. THE WIRES CONSIST OF AN OUTER SHEATH MADE OF A SILVER ALLOY FILLED WITH YBACUO(X). THEY ARE ALSO ABLE TO PREPARE MULTICORE WIRES. TO CHARACTERIZE THE WIRES IN MORE DETAIL THEY HAVE INVESTIGATED TRANSITION TEMPERATURE, CRITICAL TRANSPORT CURRENT DENSITY DEPENDENCE OF THE CROSS SECTION, OXYGEN CONCENTRATION OF THE SUPERCONDUCTOR AFTER PULLING THE WIRE ANDMORPHOLOGY OF THE CERAMICS USING LIGHT AND ELECTRON MICROSCOPY.
