Storage conditions in the Norwegian distribution of fresh produce.

Résumé

The frequency and magnitude of deviation from ideal postharvest storage conditions increased in the distribution chain from the producer to the retailer for fourteen important products of fresh produce. The variation between different enterprises was very large. This variation in storage conditions between various enterprises depended upon the presence or the efficacy of their cooling and humidifying systems. Storage of ethylene sensitive together with ethylene producing products resulting in shortened shelf life was recorded.
