Comparison of two-dimensional protein profiles of Campylobacter jejuni strains starved at low temperature.

Résumé

The total cell proteins of Campylobacter jejuni were studied in two strains following exposure of cells to nutrient-starvation at low temperature (4 deg C). The strains were obtained by isolation from chicken, CP-8, and by passage through gut mice CP-8R. Changes in protein patterns were identified. Either up- or down-regulation appeared to be a general response to stress elicited by nutrient depleted conditions at 4 deg C. Notable stress-related responses were found in three inducible proteins with apparent molecular masses of around 42, 43 and 50 kDa. A further approximately 44 kDa protein was consistently upregulated in all the strains studied.
