Research of ammonia/propane binary mixtures.

Author(s) : NAKAGAWA N., KURACHI M., NOZUE A., et al.

Summary

As the results of the research, the authors have identified a composition ratio of the binary mixtures, having the performance similar to that of R22 without changing the present system design as far as pressure and temperature are concerned. Moreover, it was confirmed that the explosion pressure became lower than that of propane itself due to the addition of less explosive ammonia. The material compatibility of copper, iron, and aluminium was evaluated; the corrosion problems were not serious in actual use for the present mixture composition.
