Summary

Vapour-compression cycles have been widely utilised in industrial refrigeration, and the technology is also being applied for process heating and heat recovery. To maximise the benefits of a vapour-compression system, optimisation and advanced control systems that are tailored for a specific manufacturing process should be implemented. A dynamic process model is necessary for developing and evaluating advanced control methods and optimisation scheme. This study presents a dynamic model of an industrial refrigeration system coupled with a heat pump. Both steady-state and dynamic models have been developed using Symmetry process simulation software. The assumptions and procedures for specifying parameters are discussed. Dynamic simulations were conducted for different cases.
