A method for optimising the propane-butane mixture used in compression refrigeration units.

Author(s) : BIALKO B., KRÓLICKI Z.

Summary

The paper presents the results of theoretical and experimental research into discovering the optimal propane-butane mixtures for minimum energy consumption and constant cooling efficiency. The theoretical analysis was based on the mathematical modelling of hydrocarbon mixture thermodynamic properties for a wide range of mixtures. An experimental method has been developed to obtain the parameters of a regression equation to predict the amount of energy consumed by a refrigerator. The minimum of this regression equation indicates the optimal propane-butane mixture for the refrigerator.
