Summary
A propane-butane mixture is analysed as an environmentally friendly substitute for R12. An optimal mixture molar concentration is found. The results of five years long tests of typical domestic refrigerators have proved that the mixture is fully compatible with presently used compressors and lubricants for R12. The mixture is especially recommended as a drop-in refrigerant, when social and economical impacts are taken into account.
