Summary

Pressure drop data from experiments on subcooled flow boiling of R12 and R134a were correlated. A wide range of pressures (8-20 bars), mass fluxes (750-3,000 kg/s.m2), subcooling temperatures (2-47.6 K) and heat fluxes (up to 207,500 watts/m2) was considered. The new correlation for the reduced pressure drop is a function of the boiling number and the Jakob number. 320 of 326 experimental data points lie within 25% of the correlation.
