Summary
The paper proposes a new refrigeration system that is composed of condenser, throttle, evaporator and a magnetic thermosiphon apparatus. The working fluid in the system is a magnetic fluid whose carrier liquid is a binary solution of absorbent and refrigerant. Non-uniform magnetic fields are applied on the heat input and output sections of the magnetic thermosiphon apparatus to produce a magnetic body force which separates the vapour and liquid phases of the magnetic fluid in the boiling region and drives the flow when heated. There are two circulations in the system. One is the vapour phase (refrigerant) flowing through the condenser, the throttle and the evaporator where the refrigerant absorbs the heat of environmental medium and realizes refrigeration, at last mixing with the highly concentrated magnetic fluid in the heat output section. Another circulation is the concentrated magnetic fluid flowing through a liquid bypass line between the heat input and heat output section to return it from a boiling region to a condensation region. The magnetic thermosiphon apparatus functions as compressor in this new refrigeration system, so the system can be looked upon as a new absorption refrigeration system without a pump. Theoretical analysis indicates that this new proposed refrigeration system with a magnetic thermosiphon is feasible.
