A numerical simulation of the air flow and heat transfer in a refrigerated food display cabinet.

Summary

The paper presents details of a numerical modelling study of a refrigerated food display unit. In the analysis, three components of the system, the evaporator, a perforated plate and a perforated grille at the exit to the main display area, are modelled as a porous medium. The resulting air velocity and temperature distributions for the system indicate the presence of a large region of low temperature in the main display area, which is suitable for maintaining food products in good conditions.
