Summary

Two test rigs were set up to attempt to convert an R12 internal-combustion-driven heat pump to R134a. The minor drawbacks of R134a at low temperatures were made up in improvements at higher temperatures. Although polyolester and ester oil were both effective, preference should be given to the latter in the future.
